Shaping up to be a bad day for Bliar

Working families 'will be worse off under Labour'

If Tony Blair wins the election pensioners and working parents will lose out financially, a leading think tank warns today.

New research suggests that cuts to the winter fuel allowance next year will cancel out Labour's sweeteners for pensioners.

Gordon Brown's spending plans also threaten to leave thousands of families worse off as money is diverted to single parents.

The findings, by the Institute for Fisceal Studies, threatn to shatter Labour's claim to be the party of choice for the elderly and hard working families.

And...

More Iraq leaks on the way

Tony Blair faces further "explosive" leaks today from the Attorney General's secret legal advice on invading Iraq.

Labour is reeling from the disclosure of crucial differences between Lord Goldsmith's private advice to the Prime Minister on the legality of the war and his published justification for it 10 days later.

But a Whitehall insider claims there is worse to come. "There are more explosive differences between the 7 March and 17 March documents," said the insider. "The section leaked so far is only a taster. It is a fair bet that whoever leaked this will reveal the rest before the election day. If they have leaked half, they will inevitably leak the rest."

Stop tantalizing us! Leak the rest before Bliar gets to face the public on Question Time! Oh go on... you know you want to.

He has only got a 30 minute slot, so that will 20 minutes on Iraq and 10 minutes on taxation (ahem) promises, with maybe some time for a few "Nasty Tories", "Back Door" quips for good measure.

Just about sums up the New Labour Election campaign this time around.

UPDATE: Iraq war legal advice published

So after months of refusing to publish the legal advice, Bliar's hand finally gets forced. He had no choice... It would have been leaked anyway.
